Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Vance, 92, of Bettendorf, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 11, 2024. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Betty’s name to Meals on Wheels America (give.mealsonwheelsamerica.org). Betty Ann Baalman was born on July 9, 1931, in Angelus, KS and raised on a farm near Grinnell, KS, the youngest of nine children. She married Vernon Vance on August 26, 1950. After retiring as a secretary from Bettendorf Community School District, Betty volunteered for the Catholic Service Board at Cinderella’s Cellar and the Kahl Home, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her five daughters, Vicki (David) Dieckman, Overland Park, KS, Cindi (William) Coe, Charlotte, NC, Catherine (Robert) Bosco, Davenport, IA, Julie (Brad) Parsons, Naperville, IL, and Lori (Don) Dondanville, Davenport, IA. Betty cherished her grandchildren, and is survived by Jennifer (Sean) Cooke, Stephanie (Mark) Zeller, Scott and Hannah Bosco, Jack, Ben, and Ellee Parsons, Matthew and Lydia Ernster, and her great-grandchildren Ryan, Addison, and Caitlin Cooke, Logan Dieckman, Natalie Bosco, and Henry Zeller.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Vernon, grandson Aaron Dieckman, son-in-law James Pearson, eight siblings, and her parents.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at The Fountains Assisted Living Facility in Bettendorf and the staff of St. Croix Hospice.
