John was born in Burlington Ontario to parents Julia and Ignacy Hejno (predeceased). He graduated from Nelson High School and completed his post secondary education at Wilfrid Laurier University.
From a young age, John had a love and passion for commercial real estate and enjoyed meeting figures such as Ron Joyce, Tim Horton, and Dave Thomas during his early years as a commercial property owner.
John also enjoyed nature and demonstrated an empathy and kindness towards all the various animals and birds that visited his backyard. He especially loved his blue jays. This love of animals extended to his dog Jack (predeceased) and his dog Fluffy who he picked up from the Timmins Humane Society in the middle of winter and a pandemic.
In one of the last great moments of his life that he enjoyed, John watched the solar eclipse in the front yard with his loved ones. We are grateful to have recently shared such a beautiful moment with him.
John had a presence, a straightforwardness, and a sense of humour that will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but especially so by his partner and wife of 20 years Jennifer, his son Jeffrey, and grandchildren Shawn and Sarah.
A private funeral has been held.
