David L. Rinko 76, of Acushnet, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Dale (Amaral) Rinko. David was the son of the late George Francis and Laura (Baker) Rinko.
David graduated from Ellicottville Central High School. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965-1968. He worked in manufacturing throughout his career working at Nye Lubricants as a manufacturing technician until his retirement.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a loving, caring man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends whose lives he touched. His family is grateful for the time they had with him sharing many beautiful memories throughout the years. David was always there for everyone, never expecting anything in return. He wore his father and grandfather shirts proudly for over 40 years. His family meant everything to him and he meant everything to his family. David watched over his family and friends during his lifetime and will continue to watch over them.
In addition to his wife Dale, he is survived by his beloved children and grandchildren: Cheri Rinko-Riggs and her husband Brian of Fairhaven and their children Jake and Kate; and Bryan Rinko and his wife Christine of Madbury, NH and their children Tyler and Meagan; his siblings Mary Gross, Charlie and Nick Rinko of New York as well as his nephews, nieces and their families. He was the brother of the late Francis, James and Joseph Rinko.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Community Nurses Association of Fairhaven, St. Luke’s Cancer Center, St. Luke’s Hospice VNA or the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, 440 Main Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be Monday, 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial in River-Side Cemetery.
