He came into this world blessing Andres and Celia Gonzalez, as their first son, on March 30, 1942, in Falfurrias Texas. He was a beloved Son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a legendary Cowboy; he was known by many as Beto. He started his cowboy life at the Miller Ranch and continued at the Santa Rosa Ranch, Santa Rosa Viejo, and Mariposa Ranch. Roberto, retired from the Mariposa Ranch. He spent his retirement years at home taking care of his Ranchito and watching his all-time favorite western shows. Roberto didn’t know much about charities, but he would send his monthly donations to St. Jude hospital for children.
Roberto was a man of integrity in everything he did especially with the Familia and Patrones, he was a man of honesty, he was caring, and responsible. Roberto travelled alongside Patrones to get their pride and joy to their destinations. Horses were his passion.
His favorite hobbies were team roping, working with leather, making cuartas fina para cabballo and kids (lol, just kidding) chicotes, leather buttons, making hat bands out of horsehair and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His favorite food was SOB stew, Pan De Campo, Fideo. His favorite sweets were Coconut cake, Empanadas, Marinitos and his favorite saying was when it came to sweets “That’s my Favorite”. When asked what he wanted for dinner “Whataburger.”
Roberto “Beto” was married to his sweetheart Marta Arredondo on May 5, 1962, together they had four children: Elisa Gonzalez, Celia G. Salinas, San Juanita Soliz (deceased) and Pedro Andres Gonzalez.
Roberto leaves behind his daughters Elisa Gonzalez (Ramiro Garcia), Celia G. (Isaac) Salinas Jr., and his son Andres Gonzalez, 16 grandchildren and 34 Great grandchildren, his sisters Ramona Hinojosa, Agueda Villarreal and his nieces and nephews.
Roberto was preceded in death by his parents Andres and Celia Gonzalez, Daughter San Juanita Soliz and Son-in law’s Rudy Soliz, Ralph Vela, and sister Leona Cantu.
Besitos, Besitos Daddy!
Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 8:00 a.m. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with Burial at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
Cowboy’s Last Ride
Saddle up Cowboy. This was truly your life. Loving the Horses and loving the ride. You sat so tall in that saddle, and you rode so well. You were one true Cowboy. This anyone could tell. Your Cowboy hat, you wore it with pride. Those Cowboy boots walked many a mile. Now your life on Earth is over. God has plans for you. So, Saddle up Cowboy. This will be a journey for you. God will lead you up to Heaven, and he will ride at your side. So once again Saddle Up Cowboy. It’s time for your final ride.
