Born on December 12, 1953, Gang Li was the beloved husband of Ying Ying Wang and the proud father of Melody Tigges. Gang Li dedicated his life as a music composer. He crafted pieces of all genres, melodies that will endure through the ages. A few earlier pieces include Concerto in D Major (with Violin solo); Sketch of Tibet (a pipe instrument symphonic suite); Piano concerto No.1 and the Yangtze River Cantata (a large scale symphonic choir work). Later, he composed his Symphony No. 1; No. 2 (award winning) and No. 3. After moving to the US, he finished his 24 piece Prelude & fugue. His dream was to publish this final piece as a contribution to the modern classical music repertoire.
He also shared his passion for music through education, inspiring students with his talent and dedication as a piano teacher. Gang Li left behind a profound legacy of creativity and artistry.
Beyond his musical pursuits, Gang Li found his greatest joy in the love and warmth of his family, whom he moved from China to America. He was a devoted husband and father. His kindness, patience and humor enriched the lives of all who knew him.
A celebration of Gang Li’s life will be held. Please email [email protected] for details.
May Gang Li’s melodies continue to resonate in our hearts, and may his legacy inspire others to pursue their musical dreams.
