Sassack, Robert Stephen, 87, (January 28, 1937) was welcomed into heaven May 9, 2024. Bob was born to Andrew and Anna (Warga) Sassack in River Rouge, Michigan. Bob attended Our Lady Of Lourdes High School, received a tennis scholarship and graduated from Michigan State University, and received his masters degree from Eastern Michigan University. Bob was a jewelry salesman who could wrap a gift like no other, a ditch digger, a bus driver, a tennis, basketball and football coach, teacher, t-shirt entrepreneur, tennis facility owner, professor at General Motors Institute, a long time employee of General Motors and Saturn Corporation, and co-owner of Grand Blanc Great Harvest. Bob also loved to give his time to many local organizations.
Bob met the love of his life, Patricia Anne Domanski, at a Wyandotte dance hall. He made her his bride October 7, 1963. Bob and Pat celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past year. The Sassacks have been long time members at Holy Family Church. Bob is preceded in death by their son Robert (1964-1995). Bob is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; daughter Cindy King (Todd Scobey) of Nashville, son Scott (Tanya Strotkamp) of Grand Blanc, son Mark (Cindy Nelson) of Cumming, Georgia and his daughter-in-law, Maureen Sassack Basile of Washington Township, and their loving, spoiled rotten dog, Piper. Bob and Pat shared 10 grandchildren: Christopher (Kristine), Matthew (Kimmy), Bradley (Tessa), Robert, Matthew, Carra, Rebekah, Gabrielle, Megan, and Ryan. Bob and Pat were proud great-grandparents of Harvey Bloom, Isla, Conner, and Wesley. Bob will leave a special spot in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and dear friends.
Bob was a lover of life. He never met a stranger and never let a moment go by when he could put a smile on someone’s face. He loved being the greeter at the Grand Blanc Great Harvest- welcoming everyone who entered and wishing each a good day as they left. Bob loved a good joke. He loved good conversations over a cup of hot fresh coffee. He would eat breakfast all day long if he could. Bob loved phone calls, always ending in “I love you babe" followed by, “When you get a chance, come back my way.”
