TELFORD - Rena Faye Crum Chandley passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the age of 89 in her home in Washington County, TN surrounded by her loving family. She passed away due to complications from a February 8th surgery.
Rena Faye was born on August 17, 1934, to the late William Smith and Lavon Davis Crum, in Greene County, TN.
Those left to treasure her memory are her son, Richard Chandley (Beverly), and daughter, Karen Lyons (Terry). Sisters: Jeanetta Allison and Shirley Whitburn. Grandchildren: Logan Chandley (Stephanie), Marena Long, Jessica Dunn (David), Jonathan Lyons (Julia), Jason Lyons (Morgan), and Keith Lowe. Great-grandchildren: Karleigh Dunn, Carson Lyons, Jaeden Forney, Callie Lyons and Cooper Lyons as well as a special great-granddaughter, Cherokee Lowe and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rena Faye was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Boyd Chandley, her sister Hilda Sells, brothers Charles, Wade and Gail Crum and a niece, Myra Whitehead.
Rena Faye was a graduate of Washington College High School and studied at Steed College of Tech and Greeneville School of Commerce.
She and her husband operated Green Hill Dairy, a grade A dairy, in Washington County from 1964 until 1996. During that time, she was a full-time homemaker, partner, and Mother. She sewed for many friends and neighbors making cheerleading uniforms, and bridesmaid dresses. She was well-known for her gardening skills and enjoyed sharing her bounty with family and friends.
Rena Faye was known throughout the Conklin community as a sweet, loving, and good neighbor. She was active in her church, Horse Creek Church of God, teaching Sunday School and Bible School and belonging to the Women’s Group. She was well known for her sourdough rolls at church events.
She was a strong and faithful woman who put her church and family first in her life.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Shirley Whitburn, Jean Shelton, Carole Chandley, and Bonnie Chandley for their help in providing care as well as to Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice staff, Allie, Karen & Leslie for their professional, caring, and courteous service.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11th at Horse Creek Church of God from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. with the funeral and graveside service following.
Pallbearers will be Logan Chandley, Robert Shelton, Jason Lyons, Chris Chandley, Bobby Chandley, and Jeremy Painter. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class of Horse Creek Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Horse Creek Church of God WCG at 900 Old Jonesboro Road, Chuckey, TN 37641.
