Janice Holden Thomas, age 76, of Greensboro, North Carolina passed away on Friday May 10, 2024, after a long battle with dementia. Janice Juanita was born on September 21, 1947, in Jackson County, Georgia to the late John Buford Holden of Ila, Georgia and Sara Minish Holden of Commerce, Georgia.
Janice worked as a secretary at Jefferson Standard Insurance, Parker Hannifin and the North Carolina Port Authority. She retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance, where she served as an agent with her husband in the early 1990s due to a disability. She was both an avid reader and crafter who excelled at cross-stitching, stained glass, ceramics and toll painting. Janice loved to travel and had visited Mexico, Puerto Rico, Acapulco and the Bahamas. She adored spending time, sometimes for months, at her beach house in Atlantic Beach while boating, fishing, visiting lighthouses, finding sand dollars and water skiing in the Bogue Sound and collecting seashells. Janice’s favorite holiday was Christmas and she looked forward to planning, extensively shopping, decorating and cooking each year. Having been born with a green thumb, she relaxed by tending to and watering both her plants and yard. She was a survivor of Breast Cancer.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Holden, who died before she was born; her husband of 56 years, Harry Charles Thomas and her eldest daughter, April Thomas Jones.
Those left to remember her include her brother, John D. Holden and his wife Geraldine, her youngest daughter, Christie Thomas Bisbee; her granddaughter, Sarah Spencer Bisbee; her grandson, Anderson Alexander Bisbee; nephew, Jason Holden; niece, Jennifer Sniger and various other extended relatives and friends.
Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is honored to serve the Thomas Family.
