Judith Carole “Judy” Breckenridge, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family. She was born January 28, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Floyd and Ledra (Berry) Rausch.
Judy will be remembered as a shining light to many that were privileged to cross her path; an optimist who loved life to the fullest. A soulmate to her high school sweetheart, a devoted Mom to her sons, a Mom#2 to her daughter-in-laws, an inspiring woman to her grandchildren, and loving Sister and friend to those within her faith.
She was a true Servant as a Jehovah's Witness who looked forward to a better and perfect world for us all. She loved Jehovah with her whole heart and spread his message. She treasured His word. Psalms 37:11 was read to many people, as was Revelation 21:1-4.
As a breast cancer survivor of over 25 years she never once said "why me?", but asked the question "Why not me?" Her sons remember her working as an AVON Lady for her community and being proud to say she bought a car, paid for vacations, and paid medical bills because she was good at it!
She loved to ask questions and get to know individuals on a personal basis. She used this knowledge to connect others and help guide them. Instead of creating a life-long bucket list, she created weekly bucket-list items for her and George to explore local places to shop, eat, or have picnics at. Even becoming wheelchair bound for the last ten years, they still attended the Kingdom Hall, celebrated special occasions, and seeked out new things to learn together! Her, now adult granddaughters, remember learning how to make deviled eggs with vinegar, enjoy nature by feeding the birds, and being allowed to play in the rain. Basically, they were taught to be confident, be true, have fun, and truly love life with open eyes!!!
A lesson for us all to aspire to do.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Duncan. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, George Breckenridge; sons Glenn (Teresa) Breckenridge and Jeff (Kelly) Breckenridge; grandchildren, Elizabeth Breckenridge, Jessica Breckenridge, Andrew Dingus, and Megan Breckenridge; great-grandson, Bennett Breckenridge; and many close friends within her faith as a Witness.
