Peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2024, Sylvia passed away at the age of 78 at Juravinski Hospital with loving family by her side. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by Ian, her husband and partner for 44 years, daughter Cheryl (Wayne), son Adrian (Shelley), granddaughters Meghan (Dan), Megan and Jenna, grandsons Christopher, Tyler, Jacob (Megan), Hunter, and Liam. Sylvia will be dearly missed by her brother John (Kathy) and sister Angela (John), sisters-in-law Doreen, and Eileen (Wayne). Also will be missed by 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Sylvia arrived in Canada in 1969, after living in Wales and England. Sylvia was an exceptionally talented designer who worked as a florist for 54 years, originally Ivy’s House of Flowers, then opened Cameo Florist as a partner, then Sylvia’s Flowers. After closing her own business she worked for Burgess Flowers and spent the last 15 years of her career with Debbie's Flowers.Sylvia enjoyed reading, boating (although she didn’t enjoy swimming), and the occasional round of golf (especially the 19th hole).
The family would like to thank the doctors and cancer nurses at the Juravinski Cancer Centre for their care over the last year. Also thankful for the recent care by the doctors, nurses and staff of wards F5 and C3 in the Juravinski Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Friday, May 17th from 6-9pm.
