Randy was born in High Point January 25, 1953, son of Mary E. "Betty" Safrit and the late Bobby Hugh Safrit.
Randy graduated from High Point Central HS and was an active member of the Key Club.
During his school years he worked part time at Sechrest Funeral Service.
After graduation Randy worked for a furniture company where he met his beloved wife, Deborah Cox. They were married for 40 years, until her death in 2020. Randy returned to Sechrest and he worked full time for 33 years.
Randy was an active member of the High Point Lions Club, where he served in various positions. He and his wife, Debbie, were known for their diligence in collecting used eyeglasses, often sent to third world countries, for the visually impaired. One of his proudest moments was when he received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Lions Club at the recent North Carolina Lions' Club Convention.
Randy is a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of High Point and more recently attended Friendly Baptist Church. Randy was active with the groups Young at Heart and Grief Share at Green Street Baptist Church.
Randy is survived by his mother, Betty Safrit; his sister, Jayn Swaim and her husband Ed; his brother Hal Safrit and his wife Nancy. He is also survived by his aunt, Janet Hughes; his nephew, Alex Safrit; nieces Lindsay Swaim and Catherine Safrit; and numerous cousins and their children.
A Celebration of Randy's life will be held 3 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Sechrest-Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Erin Bowers. Entombment at Floral Garden Mausoleum will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 2 until 3 p.m.
