Robert "Bob" Ferrell Jenkins, 84, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 6, 2024. Bob was born on April 3, 1940, to Ira and Louise Jenkins and remained a lifelong Houstonian. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Kae Kellough Jenkins.
Bob is survived by his son Ricky Jenkins and wife Carolyn; daughter Jessica Shively and husband Hunter; grandchildren Courtney Jenkins Peters and husband Blake, Kyle Jenkins and wife Sydney, Robert and Charlotte Shively; and great-grandson Leighton Peters. Additional survivors include his sister Gayle Bowyer, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob attended West University Elementary, Pershing Middle School, and Bellaire High School. He graduated from The University of Texas, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Bob had a successful career in mortgage and commercial banking. He co-founded North American Mortgage, which became the largest privately held mortgage company in Texas.
Bob loved socializing, hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing tennis with friends and family. He coached many of Ricky and Jessica's youth sports teams and helped coach some of his grandson Kyle's basketball teams.
A private graveside ceremony will be held with close family members. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org) are appreciated by the Jenkins family
