Eleanor Bonnie Anderson of Modesto, passed away at the age of 91 on May 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 6, 1933, in San Francisco, she was the daughter of the late Hezron Robert and Lucille May (Greer) Miller. Eleanor attended Jefferson High School in Daly City, then attended Pasadena College. She enjoyed participating in many choral courses at Modesto Junior College after moving to Ceres in 1967. She worked in education in numerous capacities for over 30 years. Eleanor was a published poet (“San Francisco, My Home Town”). She loved music, sang in her church choir for many years and enjoyed playing the piano. She loved to crochet and made many afghans for friends and family. She especially loved crocheting for babies and appreciative new mothers.
Eleanor was married to the late Norman L. Anderson for 34 years prior to his death in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Jim) Fraiser, son Kirk (Laurie) Kennedy, of Modesto, granddaughters Shelane (Bryan) French of Tracy, Jamie Enos (Manuel Torres) of Ceres, Taylor (Bryce) Hekman of Modesto. Her great-grandchildren are: Ava and Adam Torres, Andre Torres and Anissa (Luis) Torres Ochoa of Turlock, and Ella and Logan French. She is also survived by her sister Betty Williams of Livermore, and by 5 nieces and nephews and a great-niece. Other family members include: Paul (Duretta) Anderson of Florida, Gail Anderson and Eileen Anderson of Arkansas, Amy (Ian) Bennett and son Blake of Oregon and Ryan Anderson of California. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Fred C. Kennedy, her sister Shirley McEachern and a niece, Laurie McEachern. A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on May 28th at 11:30. A Celebration of Life will be planned for this summer.
