James served his country in the United States Marine Corps stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was immersed in his duties that would be a lifelong dream. He loved his country and was so proud to be a Marine. He put all of his time, heart, and soul into the Marine Corps. James was blessed with a loving extended family. He was never married and had no children of his own. When his mother became ill, he came home to take care of her. Even then he was very involved with the Rocket City Young Marines, until the time he himself became sick. James was the kindest person, softly spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem no matter how small. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
James is survived by his nephews; David W. Dueitt and his wife Penny, and Robert E. Dueitt and his wife Marsha. He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Ruth (Tanner) Hines and his sister Ruth Jean Carr.
