Mr. Phillip Visha age 89 of Dallas, Georgia passed away with family by his side on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Son of the late Theodor and Christina Visha, he was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the second of three children and lived in Cleveland until he served in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman.
He married Lois Richter in May 1957. After completing his service time, the couple settled in Virginia and started their family. In 1970 the family relocated to Georgia so Phil could pursue his medical career. He graduated with an ADN degree from Kennesaw Junior College 1973. He worked as a surgical RN at Piedmont Hospital for over 30 years. During their 58 years of marriage they enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He was a life long Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed visiting the Football Hall of Fame.
Following his retirement, Phil enjoyed reading, volunteering and caring for his grandchildren. He always presented a positive attitude and loved life and family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years Lois, his brothers John and Roy Visha, sister-in-law Dolores Visha, stepmother Efterpi Visha and stepbrother Sotir Dimitry. Phil is survived by his children, Christina (Brett) Baxley; Catherine (James) Fairlamb; Phillip (Mary) Visha; Jeanne (Greg) Mabry; 8 Grandchildren, Morgan (Zachary) Stahl; Travis Mabry; Catherine (Andrew) Marsh; Lucas Baxley; Isabella and Ollie Fairlamb; Margaret (David) Reenstra; Kathryn (Frank) Bickerstaff; 7 Great Grandchildren, Maybrie and Macyn Stahl; DH Marsh; Elizabeth, Frank, and Ruth Bickerstaff; Jack Laton; Ella and Olivia Reenstra; Step-sister Athina Crawford; Sisters-in-Law, Anna Visha; Valerie (Bill) Fullerton; Faith Meysing; Bonnie Dimitry and many nieces and nephews, honorary family member Trayvel Mills and beloved canine companion Stella.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA with Dr. Marcus Merritt officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home with service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Comfort Community Center in memory of Travis’ GaGa Attn: Emmanuel Wohiren, 700 Sandy Plains Road, Suite B-14 Marietta, GA 30066.
A visitation for Phillip will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152, followed by a a celebration of life memorial service at 1:00 PM.
