Auburn – Carmen Isabel, 88, a resident of Auburn, ME peacefully passed away on Friday May 3, 2004 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn. She was born in Lewiston, ME on January 21, 1936 the daughter of the late Archibald and Laura Roy. On April 8, 1962, she exchanged vows with her devoted husband, Daniel Isabel.
Carmen dedicated numerous years of service as part of the kitchen staff at Bates College, where her hard work endeared her to many. Her leisure hours were filled with joy, traveling to Alaska and Hawaii, playing card games, bingo games and nurturing her Thanksgiving cacti.
A faithful member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Carmen found solace and community in her religious faith. Her life was enriched by the support of her fellow parishioners.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical professionals who provided Carmen with compassionate care throughout the years, with special appreciated to Dr. Lise Cloutier.
During the last four years, Carmen found comfort and companionship in the Little Diamond neighborhood of Schooner Memory Care, where the dedicated staff demonstrated unwavering love and care.
The family also acknowledges the Androscoggin Hospice staff for their invaluable support and compassionate assistance during Carmen’s final journey.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Church, honoring Carmen’s enduring commitment to her faith community.
Carmen’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.
The family invites you to a time of visitation on Monday May 13th from 9:00am to 10:30am at Pinette, Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St. Lewiston ME. A committal service will follow at St. Peters Cemetery Deer Rd in Lewiston.
