Joan was married to her loving, belated husband Ed Grodus for 61 years. They had three children Lynne Herman, Mike (Kathy) Grodus, and Christine (Bill) Crantas and nine grandchildren: Jimmy, Nick (Lila), Ryan, Jenny, Michael, Jake (Robin), Jenna (John), Jessica, John and three great grandchildren: Nour, Reyah, and Cassius. Sister of the late Phyllis (Ed) Brudna, and Jackie (Bob) Check, and sister-in-law to the late John (Alice) Grodus, and many nieces and nephews.
Joan never slowed down, being very active and involved her entire life. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, especially custom cakes and pies. Joan enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching the birds, traveling, exercise, golfing, praying, going to church, and watching the Wheel of Fortune. She was always up for going out to breakfast, lunch, and a Sunday margarita and Lays potato chips with her kids.
In loving memory of a remarkable woman whose kindness and selflessness knew no bounds. She was not only a devoted mother but also a cherished grandmother, finding pure joy in the time spent with her family. Her unwavering faith in God shaped her life, with her daily prayers serving as a comforting link between heaven and her cherished children and grandchildren.
Though she faced the loss of her husband five years ago, her strength and love continued to shine through, guiding and nurturing her family with a love that touched their hearts deeply. Her legacy of love and sacrifice will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2024, at St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook Street, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Joan's family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with Memory Sharing taking place at 6:30 pm, and a Rosary Service taking place at 7:00 pm, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, and again at church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 10:00 am. A burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
