Arlene Carole Magor, was born on January 5, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Mildred and William Valduga. On Thursday, May 9 at 3:07 pm, surrounded by her husband Les, children, and grandchildren, she passed into Glory.
Arlene and Les were avid international travelers, hikers, and skiers, even into their 70s. Arlene is also remembered for walking many miles a week, a leisurely activity that citizens of Longmont and Boulder have observed her doing over the years!
Arlene is survived by her husband of 31 years, Leslie Magor, her three children, Chris Royer, Wendy Hetzel, and Holly Sechler, their spouses, and their 8 children, as well as by Les’ three children, Jan Kelley, Wayne Magor, and Lisa Zimmerman, and their five children.
The love of Arlene’s life was her family and her faith in Jesus Christ. She always had her Bible and prayer request list open in the mornings. Her professional passion was teaching. She worked at Southern Hills Junior High in Boulder as a Latin and social studies teacher until the birth of her first child. In later years she volunteered teaching English as a foreign language to immigrants at 1st Presbyterian Church in Boulder. She believed that she’d been lavishly blessed by God; her response was to give back to others which she did through foreign mission trips with Les and through serving at the Deacon’s Closet in Boulder, Kids Hope in Longmont, and the Food Center in Longmont.
As her grandchildren grew Arlene loved playing Hearts, Pinochle, and Hand and Foot with them. She regularly mentioned how gratified she was that they were following Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, Arlene has requested that gifts be sent to Anglican Frontier Missions, an organization directed by her son, Chris. Alternatively, she has requested that individuals celebrating her life do something nice, unexpected, and anonymous for someone else!
A funeral service for Arlene will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Faith Community Lutheran Church, 9775 Ute Hwy, Longmont, Colorado 80504.
