Stanley Brown, 77, passed away on Sunday, May 12th, after a brief illness. Born in Miami, Fla., to the late Obie Lee & Annie Ruth Brown, he was the sixth of seven children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jean Register, and brothers, Bobby Brown & Eddy Brown.
Stanley was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and had a 43-year career with AT&T. His work focused mostly on corporate security, eventually taking him to Japan, Argentina, the Philippines, India & many other countries.
Stanley was an avid Georgia football fan, and he loved watching the Dawgs play on Saturdays. He also loved cooking for his friends and family, traveling the world and spending summer vacations at Fernandina Beach.
Stanley’s proudest achievement was his family. He is survived by his children, Drew (Tram) Brown, of Macon, Amy (Jeff) Craig, of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Marie Brown, of Roswell, Melissa Brown, of Macon and Melanie Brown, of Macon; grandchildren Cody Johnson of Fort Myers, Fla., Elizabeth Zinszer, of Linden, N.J., and Caroline Zinszer, of Portland, Ore; great-grandchildren Olivia and Ayden; sisters Dianne Lang and Sandra Kennedy, both of Macon, Elaine (Tom) Brown, of Eatonton; longtime companion Joy Story, of Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends he considered to be family, as well as his beloved Boston Terrier, Suzy.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15th from 5 – 7 pm at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, located at 746 Cherry St., Macon, GA. The funeral will take place at 2 p.m., May 16th, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 753 College St, Macon, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foster Care Christmas fund at the Bibb County Department of Family and Children Services (456 Oglethorpe St, Macon, Ga. 31201) or to Casa Hogar del Nino de Acapulco via First Presbyterian Church (682 Mulberry St, Macon, Ga. 31201).
