Obituary of Aladean Brown
Aladean Cross Haynes Brown was born on January 22, 1943 to Harlie and Aline Cross, both deceased. She is the beloved sister and lifelong friend of HC (Sherry) Cross. The two of them grew up caring for each other before themselves even into adulthood. She had two sisters who died in infancy, Saladean and Dellie Louise Cross. In 1961, she met and married her first love Junior Haynes. They had six wonderful years together. Then at the age of 24, she was widowed with three children ages 5, 3 and 6 weeks old, Michelle (Larry) Lodge, Anthony (Tracy) Haynes and Mitchell (Stacy) Haynes. It was not long before there was a knock at the door. She opened the door to the man who became the love of her life, Carl Brown. Some even questioned if she had loved this man at the age of eleven when he told her to look at the moon and snuck a kiss. They married in 1968 and with this marriage she gained two children, Tamara (David) Rains and Steven (Dava) Brown. Together they had their last born, pride and joy, spoiled Jeanette (Tony) Dishman. They lived a life full of love and laughter for fifty-five years. She was blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren galore. Grandchildren, Hilary (Josh) Jones, Larry III (Sandra) Lodge, Brooke (Chris) Woodrey, Brett (Lauren) Haynes, Bailey Haynes, Blake Haynes, Houston (Delaney) Haynes, Harley (Katie) Haynes, Hunter (Emma) Haynes, Jamie (Drew) Sipes, Robin Clock, Stefani Baker, Tyler (Kristen) Brown, Jamen Riggs, Nathan (Richai) Riggs, Ryan (Kim) Riggs, Payton Dishman, Dalton (Karla) Dishman, Preston Dishman (Trinity Bindel). Great-grandchildren, Iyla, Larry IV, June, Cohen Dean (Namesake), Bella, Carson, Brielle, Addelynn, Walker, Lorelei, Hattie, Waylon, Dylan, Drew (Kiersten), Dawson, Maddie, David, Kayden, Conner, Brylen, Jamen Maddox, Ryley, Mason, Levi, Abbe, Ryan Michael, Landry, Ben, Jack, Lainey. Great-Great Grandchildren, Ivy, Asher, Brody. She is also survived by her very special niece and nephew, Heidi (Ben) Cross Gaskill and Adam Cross whom she loved like her own children. There were several other beloved nieces and nephews in her life. She was also survived by her adored cousin/niece and personal chef, Donna Faye (Keith) Drake and her adopted family Cathy McMillian. She will be sorely missed by her two loved dogs, Toe Joe and Benji. Aladean was not a musician but her singing and “Doo-Doo’s” sang many a child to sleep and settled many crying babies. She did not have a college degree but in this world, she nurtured several different professionals including registered nurses, retired naval officers, college professor, engineers, ministers, office manager, psychologist, veterinarian and technician, teachers, healthcare manager, carpenter, entrepreneurs, police officer, business professionals, accountant. She was not in the military, but she left a legacy of service men: HC Cross Staff Sergeant Company D 151st Infantry Indiana Rangers USA who served in Vietnam, Steven M. Brown Command Master Chief USN, Tyler M. Brown Staff Sergeant 75th Ranger Regiment USA, Brett Haynes Lieutenant Surface Warfare Officer USN, Stefani Brown Seaman USN and Harley M. Haynes Sergeant USMC. She herself was not a psychologist or counselor but many came to her and would just sit to talk or unload. She would always listen and give advice whether you wanted it or not. Her “talks on the porch” or “let’s go for a walk” always meant she had something to say. She loved to buy things “just in case one of the kids or grandkids might need it”. If anyone needed anything she always had it, and you usually had a choice. Up to the day she died she could tell you exactly where you could find the item you needed. She was not a preacher, in fact, she did not even attend church regularly, but she loved her God and taught everyone to love Him. Her faith was the closest thing to “moving that mountain” that anyone has seen. She taught us that the Bible was the Word of God. It was written by man, but God inspired. It was Holy and it was to be respected, DO NOT LAY ANY THING ON GOD’s WORD! She could not stand to see a Bible for sale so she would buy them all. WOW, what a legacy this one woman has left. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Minister Mitchell Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
