Rondell "Dude" L. Cross

Rondell Lee “Dude” Cross, 90, Eaton, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Tuesday, April 24, 1934, in Byrdstown, Tennessee, the son of Hiram Ernest and Thelma Ardtha (Hassler) Cross. Dude dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. His passion was working in his garden and canning what he grew. He also enjoyed deer and coon hunting and was an avid sports fan. Some of his favorites were the Baltimore Orioles, Louisville Cardinals, and the Muncie Southside High School Rebels. Dude worked several years at Marhoefer’s Meat Packing as a Group Leader. He was one of the founders of the Riverview United Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Moore) Cross; children, Tippi (partner, Terry Jones) Shaw, Rondell “Bub” Jr. (wife, Rhonda) Cross, David “Pete” (wife, Brenda) Cross, and Rhonda (special friend, Gary Decker) Decker; brothers, Harlen (wife, Charlene) Cross, and Larry (wife, Marsha) Cross; sisters, Barbara (husband, Darrell) Vaughn, and Debbie (husband, Roger) Vaughn; six grandchildren, Donnie Shaw, Thomas (wife, Leah) Shaw, Dustin (wife, Haley) Cross, Kayla (husband, Brody) Anderson, Taylre Cross, and Tyler Cross; special friends, Benton Jeffers, Louie Smith, Harold (deceased) and Barbara Reed; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his canine companions, T.J. and Sissy; and his feline companion, Sis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram E. and Thelma A. Cross; siblings, Ernest Cross, Hilda Sutton, Willie “Gus” Cross, and Manford “Peck” Cross; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Dewayne Loveless officiating.
Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
