Christine Fishberg, age 86, of New City, died on Monday, May 13th. Christine was born Christine Brunacci on April 15th, 1938 in Scranton, PA. to Alfred and Isabell Brunacci. She had a younger brother, Alfred Bennett.
Christine graduated from Wilkes College in Wilkes Barre PA with a BA in Study of the Arts. She then received her Graduate degree in Medical Records Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. Her career started as the Director of Medical Records at the Wilkes Barre General Hospital and continued as the Director of Medical Records at Grasslands Hospital in Westchester in Valhalla, NY. She finished her career as Director, Health Information Management, a position she held for 20 years at the Robert Yaeger Health Center in Pomona, NY.
Christine was married to Dr. Max P. Fishberg, dentist and longtime resident of New City. She and Max resided at 4 Boecher Court in New City. Christine continued to live there after Max died in 1996. Christine was a devoted mother to her family and her dogs. She was a devout catholic who loved fashion, interior decoration and opera. She was a parishioner of St Augustine Church.
Born partially deaf, she was a trailblazer, who overcame her disability and became a successful woman in management during the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. She leaves behind her daugher, Suzanne Kizis, her son in law David Wengrod and her beloved dog Lucy. Other members of the family are her niece, Sharon Bennett and cousin Marie Graziano.
The wake will be on Sunday, May 19th at the Higgins Funeral Home from 3-7pm. A funeral mass will take place on Monday morning May 20th at 10:30 at St Augustine Church.Christine A.
