Geanie Wall Detraz passed away on May 11, 2024 at the age of 84. She was born in Jackson, Tennessee, on November 19, 1939. After attending Washington University, she began her career as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines and then worked for Maritz Travel that took her around the world. After her traveling days ended, she became a local tour guide in New Orleans and throughout South Louisiana. Geanie was a parishioner of St. Ann Church and Shrine in Metairie. She gave back to her community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels with her husband, Charlie. She was also active in Women for a Better Louisiana, Tour Guide Association, and Silverliners. She was a gifted painter and a fabulous cook. In her free time, she dabbled in jewelry making. Geanie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandsons, Jack and Clay.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Charles Edward Detraz; and parents, Berry Louis Wall and Lillian Laneri Wall.
Geanie is survived by her daughter, Monique Detraz Kinler (Douglas); sister, Louann Wall Hood; and grandsons, Jack Edward Kinler and Clay Charles Kinler.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Scott and Michelle Lovitt from Audubon Care Homes as well as all of Geanie’s caregivers- particularly Jodi Taylor, Rene Brown, and Lakevia Baker.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. After the Mass, Geanie will be laid to rest in All Saints Mausoleum.
