Born on February 18, 1950, in Hanover, NH, Craig was the son of Newall and Barbara Wood, of Bethel, VT. He grew up in Bethel alongside his four siblings, acquiring a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others through working with his family at his father’s car dealership. Craig attended Whitcomb High School, graduating as valedictorian, and was known for his kindness and leadership qualities. He later pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, laying the foundation for a successful forty year career.
In New England, Craig worked for four decades in the engineering industry while raising his family in Litchfield, NH. He was known for his integrity, diligence, and expertise, which earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. He was a leader in his field, serving as Vice President and Director of Engineering at Presstek, as well as mentoring many aspiring professionals, generously sharing his knowledge and experience. From work he acquired his love for world travel, especially appreciating his 15 trips to Japan. Late in life he got to visit Costa Rica, Iceland, and many National Parks.
Beyond his professional achievements, Craig was deeply committed to his community, volunteering his time with local organizations such as serving for many years with the Litchfield Jaycees, to umpiring town softball games for his daughters, to serving as the president of the HOA of his Santa Clarita, CA community in retirement. Those who knew Craig will remember him as a devoted family man with a quick wit and a warm smile. He had a passion for playing golf whenever he got the chance. Outside of his time on the green he was known to be playing Wordle or Sudoko, playing cards with family and friends, and tending to his citrus trees in the yard, or generally puttering around the house finding things to fix.
Craig is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Beverly Wood, who was his steadfast companion and partner in life. He is also survived by his three devoted daughters and sons-in-law: Melissa Wood & Dan Bailey, Meredith & Steve Dancause, and Alaina & Jon Kovel. Craig's greatest joy in life was his role as a Grumpa, and he leaves behind three cherished grandchildren: Imogen, Pierce, and Lorelai. Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Newall and Barbara Champion Wood, and his brother, Gary Wood. He is survived by his three siblings, their partners, and his sister-in-law: Brian & Deborah Wood Dennis Wood & Tracey Rogers, and Joan Wood & Craig Obara, and Joann Wood.
