Born November 3, 1932 in Pekin to Otis Anthony and Olive (Bishop) Richmond, she married Charles F. “Chuck” Wolfe on September 1, 1956 at First Christian Church in Pekin. He died January 8, 2013 in Pekin.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joan Ewers.
Surviving are four daughters, Pamela Jean Wolfe of Pekin, Lynn Elizabeth (Charles) Erickson, II of Washington, North Carolina, Amy Kay (Alfred) Dela Cruz of Aiea, Hawaii and Julie Wolfe (Carl) Sahlsten of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Ashley Jean Dela Cruz, Austin Charles Dela Cruz, Eric Wolfe Sahlsten, Kyle Wolfe Sahlsten and Charles “Chase” Erickson; a niece, Patricia Kelton of Cape Coral, Florida and her son, Zack (Brittney) Kelton of Chicago.
Jean was a 1950 graduate of Pekin Community High School and met her husband while working in the office at Caterpillar. She worked at CAT until starting a family. Jean was a devoted homemaker and beloved mother.
Jean was a member of Pekin Bible Church and for years participated in the Mary Martha group. She also was community minded and a longtime member and past president of the Pekin Hospital League, volunteering in both the Gift Shop and Nearly Nu. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter GW.
She was well known for how she took care of her yard and gardens. Jean was a singer and performer in the Caterpillar Chorus shows and was one of the early members of the PCHS Melody Maids, directed by Harry Langley.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Dr. Michael McLeod will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Private burial will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
