She was the cherished eldest child of Ernest, Jr., and Shirley Davis and was born and raised in Rochester, NY. Cheryl's siblings looked up to her with admiration, respect, and love, as she displayed wisdom and patience in her role as the big sister.
Cheryl received her education from Rochester, NY City Schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1974. She embarked on a career at the Kodak Company where she rose to the position of a thermoplastic engineer. Her career at Kodak lasted for 38 years. Cheryl continued her education, earning a Bachelor’s degree at Empire State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Walden University. Most recently, she was in the final months of her doctoral program.
Cheryl was a versatile hobbyist, with a talent for creating a delightful soap line and crafting flower pots and picture frames with her 3D printer as outlets for her creative energy.
Cheryl was considered an oracle, a source of knowledge, and a master planner. She earned the nickname "Tim, the Tool Man" for her knack for tackling various home improvement projects alongside her daughters. Cheryl's strong problem-solving skills extended to her love for math and her dedication to helping adults achieve academic success. Cheryl’s side hustle business, Avery Services, allowed her to professionally prepare taxes in NYS.
Known for her calm demeanor and radiant energy, Cheryl was a shining example of a servant leader personified. Her gentle voice and beautiful smile left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Cheryl's legacy of kindness, creativity, and leadership will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love and light she brought into the lives of those around her.
Cheryl met the love of her life, Glen Willock, in 2004, and they married in 2007. Glen introduced Cheryl to the wonders of Canada. She was his copilot as they took many driving trips exploring the world. Together they enjoyed family trips, especially cruises. Glen has been profoundly affected by his wife’s kindness. She changed him for the better.
Cheryl was predeceased by her grandfather and grandmother, Victor and Juanita Jackson, and her father, Ernest Davis, brothers Ernest Davis, III, and Michael Davis.
She is survived by husband, Glen Willock, mother Shirley Davis, sisters Gwennette (Lynn) Sutton, Krystyne (Will) Greene, Wauneta (Billy) Ladner, brothers Ronald Davis, Stephen (Shelena) Davis, Keith (Sam) Davis. Children Naquetta Davis and Kelli Smithers. Bonus children Giselle (Darryl) Sandifer, Kevin Willock, Keegan (Clivia) Jessamy, Elizabeth Willock, Stephanie (Yong) Yi. Grandchildren Keion (D’Karra) English, Maxwell Yi, Roman Yi, Laiya Sandifer, Ruby Sandifer, Luke Jessamy, Skylar Jessamy, Tristan Willock. God daughter, Shaneta Ladner. Aunt Betty Gayden, Uncle Robert (Brenda) Jackson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation for Cheryl will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Victory Outreach Ministries, 85 Prospect St., Rochester, NY 14608, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Cheryl will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY.
