Anne Woodward Rea died in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 5, 2024. She was born in Tyler Texas to Nicholas and Edith Woodward. Anne grew up in many towns, primarily in the state of Texas. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School and The University of Texas. She made Austin her home and worked in the travel industry; later owning a travel agency of her own. Being very involved in her faith, Anne did much in the Episcopal Church. She served on the vestries at; St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Oak Hill, Texas; All Saints Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas, and St. Helena's Episcopal Church in Boerne, Texas. Anne served as president of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Texas and was on the board of the Kendall County Women's Shelter. She was a never tiring force for her church and the women of her community.
She later married Jay Bradford Rea in December of 2007. They enjoyed many years together, traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Although each Anne and Jay brought children into their marriage, all children were loved as her own. Surviving Anne Rea is her daughter Nicki McFarlin and husband Kevin McFarlin; her beloved step-children, Jay Bradford Rea III, Rebecca Nielson, Jana Lipe and husband Del Lipe, Nicki Ureles and husband Jeff Ureles. She is also survived by their grandchildren, Preston McFarlin, Sonia Ureles, Ben Ureles, Sabrina Hancock, Abigail Grace and Austin Lipe. Anne grew up with loving sisters; Nancy W. Ward and husband Wilber Ward, Betsy W. Sullivan and her late husband Ronald Sullivan, and Claire W. Grant and husband Steve Grant. Anne had many nieces and nephews who will miss her.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232; the service will be following at 11:00 AM with the family receiving guests immediately following.
