Rita Arlene Jack passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on Wednesday May 8, 2024. Rita was born in Balcarres, Saskatchewan and lived with her family in the District of Tullymet. After her grandparents passed, the family moved to their farm east of Balcarres. Rita had her schooling at Deter Lake School, Gillespie School, Lebret High and Balcarres High School completing her Grade 12.
Rita met and married Winston Jack and they resided in Churchbridge, SK where they had three children. Rita had a son before marriage. Rita and Winston were also foster parents to 12 children over a 15-year span. They took their children on many holidays, camping trips and to family gatherings.
During Rita’s life she was active as a church organist, an Anglican Youth counselor, choir singer, short order cook, school bus driver, Deanery President, home care worker for Alzheimer clients, and child care worker. Her hobbies were going to movies, paint embroidery, baking, Sunday drives with her husband, as well as she loved playing games outside or inside with her children and grand children.
The family moved to Clavet, SK in 1984, where Rita pursued and acquired her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan.
Rita loved visiting friends, looking after grandsons, playing piano, curling and playing board or card games. She also loved to go to watch her grandsons play hockey and soccer. She was very proud of her children and what they did.
Rita was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Winnifred Cooper, her husband, Winston and two sisters, Gloria Hartsook and Marina Fournier.
She will be sadly missed by her oldest son, Ray (Lisa) Cooper, daughters Donna-Marie Sorestad and Noreen (Curt) Taylor and youngest son, Bryan Jack and four grandsons, Dallas (Coralee) Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Mitchel (Aukje) Sorestad and Brett (Saba) Sorestad as well as four great grandchildren, Violet, Ethan, Lucas and Liam Taylor and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. And caregiver John Clark.
A Memorial Service for Rita will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday May 18, 2024 at Acadia Funeral Home (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon). For those unable to attend please visit www.faithproductions.ca/livestream to view the service. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
