Kenneth Stowers Sr, 68, passed away peacefully at home on May 10th, 2024. He was born to Freeman Stowers Jr. and Mildred Stowers on June 1st, 1955, in St Louis, Mo. He graduated from Northwest High School in 1974 and started his career at the United States Postal Service (44 years of employment). Kenny met his wife, Yvette, in 1971. They were just kids. He was 15, and she was 13. Their matrimony was on August 7, 1976 (48 years of unconditional love). He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
You hear people say one of a kind; Kenny was definitely that! He was never a follower or a flashy type of person. When you see him, he has on a white t-shirt, blue dickie pants, favorite black shoes, and he is probably drinking a stag beer. A very independent man who didn’t ask for anything. He caught the metro link and bus everywhere and could tell you every route. He was the type of person who showed no concern about how people looked or felt about him. This man was an excellent man with a strong personality but a big heart. Great sense of humor as well. He loves joking with his wife and grandkids. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his wife, siblings, children, and grandchildren. He has abundant love for all his nieces, nephews, and their children.
As a young boy, he loved serving as an altar boy at Saint Stephens Episcopal Church. Some of his favorite childhood memories were at Saint Stephens Episcopal Church and attending church camp every summer as a participant and leader. Saint Stephens loved him too, putting him in charge of caring for the grounds when he was a young teenager while Harold (regular groundskeeper) took a vacation. Kenny was dependable and responsible. All was well in his hands. He also loved bringing home God's creatures, such as turtles and goldfish. He also loved cars and purchased his first one at age 17, a Blue Plymouth Duster. Photography was another hobby, and he was also an outstanding basketball player.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Mildred Stowers, a brother, Rodney Norman, his mother-in-law, Shirley Smith, and his sister-in-law, Chantay Renee Davis.
Kenny will be dearly missed by his wife, Yvette G. Stowers; two sons, Kenneth Stowers, Jr. (Janelle) and Keith Stowers (Lindsay); his two daughters, Kenyatta Stowers (future son-in-law Chuck) and Keiara Dawson (Charles), and one god-daughter Briana Nelson-Roach (Devin). Along with five siblings: Freida Smith (Jeane), Freeman "Red" Stowers III, Craig Stowers, Sheryl Grace (Sam), and Janet "Happy" Bradshaw (Kelvin, Sr.) and a brother-in-law, Leo "Lil' Bity" Green, Jr. (Diamond), along with fourteen beautiful grandchildren: Eric Young, Erina Young, Keiteria Stowers, Kendall Stowers, Evonte Young, Elijah Young, Keleah Stowers, Marquis Seddens Jr, Kamron Stowers, Lil Keith Stowers, Major Stowers, Madison Stowers, Jayce Dawson and Carter Dawson, two great-grandchildren: E'Jay Jerry Lawrence, Enzo Kari Young, and two God grand-daughters: Liana Nelson and Ava Roach. He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and will be remembered as a good friend to many.
