Nicky Joe Daugherty, or more commonly known as Nick, was born September 15, 1982, the son of John Daugherty and Linda (Studie) Daugherty-Waddle. He was one of six children and a life-long member of the Tahlequah area. He spent his school days active in any sport he could, from basketball, baseball to track and wrestling. It was important to Nick to do well at whatever he put his hands to; sports were no different. His competitiveness was a strong trait he shared with his entire family. He was a graduate of Tahlequah High School in 2001 and quickly started a career as a roofer with Empire Roofing. Nick dabbled in a wide variety of hobbies. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, coins, watches and tennis shoes, just to name a few. He took pride in keeping his car nice and was excited to add his custom sound system. He liked to piddle around on electronics and cars and was quite the mechanic, thanks to YouTube. He had a fascination for taking things apart and putting them back together again. Everyone knew they could look to him for a solution to anything. He was a music buff and a true fan of classic rock, listening to artist such as Guns N’ Roses, Lynard Skynard to the Eagles and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The TV show Ridiculousness or sports was always on, especially if the OU Sooners were playing. He loved life and enjoyed being with his friends and family any chance he had…given you could keep him awake. Nick could fall asleep anywhere at any time, but the snore was the worst! He liked to try his luck at online gambling and the casino. He even gaining an early retirement after winning the jackpot. Nick and his friends would gather for a game of horseshoes or often visit a favorite fishing hole. He was sure to have a Mt. Dew and bag of Doritos in hand, along with his dog Kilo by his side. Among his many hobbies, to him, fishing was by far the best. There wasn’t much better than relaxing by the water with a fishing pole, aside from time with his children. He was not only his kid’s biggest fan at their sporting events, but also the loudest! His children, Jordan, Jayden, Nicky, Jazmin, Chloe and his new grandbaby, Davaun were his world. Nick had the biggest heart and never missed any opportunity to help those around him, even people he didn’t know. He was of the Baptist faith and was called from this life on Monday, May 13, 2024 at the age of 41 years old. He leaves a legacy that will never be forgotten.
