Ross Daniels, or Dolan to his family and friends, was born on March 23rd, 1928, the son of Tom and Susan (Backwater) Daniels, in Bull Hollow, OK. He started school, but as was the case in the time period, he was needed to help put food on the table. In 1950, he met and married the love of his life, Irene Glass Daniels on June 27th, 1982, and together they raised a family of four sons and two daughters, Roy Lee, Terry Wayne, Ross Dalbert, Rick, Carol Sue and Donice Daniels. He worked various jobs, his last as a Sanitation Technician for Kansas Public Schools. When he had a little free time, Ross was keeping busy, gardening, fishing, hunting, his last trip out he killed two deer with one shot, and carried on the proud tradition of being a Cherokee Artisan, carving intricate designs on bows, tomahawks, walking sticks, and peace pipes. He could really play the guitar, and the music he played began as country and rock n roll and ended up being Gospel. His talent from God was shared with his long time church family, Long Prairie Baptist, including his famous “Hog Fry” meat served at the Church. He seldom missed a signing or a chance to worship with his family and church family. He was outgoing, loved people, would help anyone that asked and was always happy to see you! He was usually in the company his favorite feline companion, “Purdy”, usually resting on Ross’s head and feet. He lost his beloved wife in 2009, and remained with the family he loved and cherished. The Lord called this wonderful talented man home from his many labors on May 2nd, 2024 at the age of 96 years. He leaves a legacy for his whole family to follow and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his beloved wife Irene Glass Daniels, and one son, Terry Daniels and wife Janet as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins , and friends.
Those left to carry on his legacy include his children, Roy Lee and Ross Dalbert Daniels and wife Latisha Stricker, all of the home, Rick Daniels and wife Brenda of Kansas, two daughter, Carol Sue and Donice Daniels both of the home. He lives on in his 29 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, 79 great-great grandchildren, and his cat, Purdy.
