Roger E. Stephenson, Jr., 66, of Forest Falls, California passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. A Celebration of Life was held at his home in Forest Falls on October 22nd. He will be interred on May 25, 2024 alongside his sister Carol (Stephenson) Furey and parents Roger, Sr. and Patrica Stephenson.
A California native, he was born in Covina and attended Barranca Elementary, Sierra Vista Junior High and South Hills High School (Class of ’75). Roger earned his Eagle Scout as a member of Boy Scout Troop 443 and was an accomplished pole vaulter for his high school Varsity Track Team. He became an expert locksmith while earning an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Mt. San Antonio College (Class of ‘80).
Roger was a creative inventor with a knack for analyzing mechanical and electrical gadgets. He patented the “Spare Thumb,” his signature invention of a thumb shaped foam nail holder. During his 40 years as a field engineer, he traveled extensively in 46 US States and 29 Countries to install and repair main frame computer and laser imagery equipment for Crossfield, Tech Services, DuPont, and Eastman Kodak.
A Forest Falls resident for 41 years, Roger was known for his friendliness and generosity. He supported the Forest Falls community by serving on the Lower Canyon Water Board, competing in 4th of July Chili Cook-Off Competitions, and always lending a hand to neighbors in need.
Roger is predeceased by his parents Roger, Sr. and Patricia Stephenson, sister Carol (Stephenson) Furey and survived by his brother Brian Stephenson and wife Vicki, and four nieces Maureen Furey, and Lauren, Kristen, and Jennifer Stephenson.
