After a long battle with liver and kidney disease, Michael Dean Elam, age 66, passed away peacefully in Venice, Florida on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, with his loving wife and family by his side. Michael was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 29, 1958 to his predeceased parents, Carmella (John) Lynn and Richard Elam, who Michael will now be eternally reunited with.
Despite spending much time in and out of hospitals in his final years, Michael never lost his will to fight and to be with family and friends. He had the ability to make others smile with his beautiful eyes, soft grin, and infectious laugh. Michael loved to fish and watch sports but found his greatest joy spending time with his grandkids and watching baseball. Known as Papa/Papa Mustache, Michael attended his grandkids’ favorite activities whenever near them.
Michael is survived by Darlene, his Wife of 43 years, and his three sons Michael, Richard, and Christopher. He adored all three of his lovely daughters-in-law Angel, Laura, and Amanda, and is also survived by eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and five great step-grandchildren.
Additionally, Michael is survived by his stepmother, Sophie Elam, Aunts and Uncles, Patsy Clementi, Tony Clementi, Jimmy Clementi, and Nickie Pitzaferro. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Carol/Jerry Santo, Ricky/Robert (deceased) Olsen, and Steve/Lorraine Pollack. Mike was also an uncle to 10 nieces and nephews and 26 great nieces and nephews.
Anyone who knew him and who reads this can clearly understand why Family was the most important to Michael.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at Englewood Methodist Church, 700 Dearborn Street, Englewood, FL 34223, on Friday, May 31st. A church service will be at 11am with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, Michael and his family kindly request that donations be made to the Dylan Jenkins Foundation, an organization that is near and dear to the hearts of Michael and Darlene. - https://dylanjenkins.org/how-to-help
