Mike was born September 19, 1941 to Juana (Reyes) and Miguel Castillo of Mercedes, Texas. In 1959, he joined the United States Army in San Antonio, Texas and was stationed in Augsburg Germany. Shortly thereafter in January 1966, Mike returned to Fort Hamilton, New York where he was honorably discharged along with being awarded the National Defense Medal Sharp Shooter of the M-14.
In 1972, Mike moved his family from Weslaco, Texas to Grand Prairie, Texas to begin his career as a Military Aviation Mechanic working for Grumman Avio Systems.
In 1977, Mike began and eventually retired after his 40-year service building the cockpits for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, TX. After retirement, Mike enjoyed traveling and music.
He is survived by his wife, Eladia Lugo Castillo, and his only son, Michael Castillo, both of McAllen, Texas. He is also survived by several stepbrother and stepsisters. Mike is preceded in death by his mother and father, stepmother, several stepbrothers and stepsisters.
