Melvin E Keller, 84 of Fairbury, Ne. entered his heavenly home with several family members at his side, at his home on May 9, 2024. He was born March 31, 1940 at Denver, Colo to Ralph and Leota (Poland) Keller.
In 1954 at age 14, Melvin was baptized at St. Joseph Church in Denver, he was a young boy, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. He attended grade school in Aurora, Co and continued his High School to the end in Aurora as well. While in High School, Melvin participated in Football and Band At Aurora High.
Melvin met and married Charlotte Von Ehrenkrook in 1957 and to them 3 children were born. Rodney, Jay and Lance. Several years later Charlotte was overcome with a terminal Illness in which took her life in the 60's. Melvin worked hard after that with trying to manage 3 young boys and hold onto his business of Construction digging lines for water, gas, etc.
Melvin then Met his new love in Roberta Oliver, better known as Bobbi, at the Green Acres Nazarene Church function at a basketball game. Melvin and Bobbi were united in marriage on June 13, 1969 in Denver. Bobbi, now became a wife and mother of Melvin and his 3 little boys. And then one year later gave birth to one more little one named Chuck Keller. As a teenager, Bobbi was a wife and mother of 4 children....A hand full?
Melvin was still running his Construction business until later on he managed this and then moved into a new business of Restaurant Hood Cleaning Business . Then as the boys got older they worked together on cars on the side. After 25 years of Hood Cleaning, Mel retired in Denver.
Melvin loved to Hunt, Fish, and going to car races in the Denver area, and during that time at car races, he portrayed as a clown amongst the pits and crowd. He was in the Fairbury Community Band for about 8 years and truly enjoyed competing in the Horseshoe competition here in Fairbury as well as his Denver community. Melvin also enjoyed the car races here in Fairbury these later years. And also, back To Denver days he belonged to the Mile HIgh Motorcycle Club
The last work Melvin did was helping his wife Bobbi serve lunches and snack bar at the VFW here in Fairbury on Bingo Nites and special occasions at the club.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, his first wife Charlotte, sons Chuck and Lance Keller and numerous Nephews.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Bobbi (Oliver) Keller of Fairbury, Sons Rodney (Chu)) of Tampa, Fl. and Jay (Candy) Keller of Fairbuy. Sisters Madeline of Ord, Ne. and JoAnn of Sauciter, Ms. and Lois (Orrie) Klassen of Walton, Ks. along 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also included are inlaws Flora Gail Roberts, of Houston, Tx. Kay (Charles) Endorf of Fairbury, Roy Oliver of Fairbury , Albert Oliver, and Leon (Kim) Oliver of Fairbury.. Also many , many nieces and nephews and cousins.
