Anna Mae Sekera Riddle was born November 20, 1922, in Prague, Oklahoma, to Frank Sekera and Anna Studler Sekera. She departed this life, May 14, 2024, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She married Robert Lloyd Riddle on February 20, 1945. They were married almost 50 years until Lloyd passed away a few months short of their 50th anniversary.
Anna Mae attended Prague schools and graduated in 1941 as the Valedictorian of her class. During World War II she worked at the Douglas aircraft plant in Oklahoma City. She and Lloyd bought a farm south of Prague in 1948; where she lived until advancing age forced her to move to Texas to be closer to her daughter. She was an active member of the Church of Christ, and taught Sunday School for many years. She also belonged to the Czech lodge, and a homemakers club. She loved to cook and bake, particularly desserts, and there was always a cake, pie or cookies in the house. She kept a large garden and an orchard, and always canned and froze lots of fruits and vegetables for later use. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and playing cards and games. She spent the last few years of her life at Arbor House in Wichita Falls, where she was a favorite with the staff who frequently commented on her wry sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ernest Sekera and Joe Sekera, her sister Rose Bell, her husband Lloyd Riddle and her son Robert Riddle.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Schroeder and husband John of Wichita Falls, TX, her daughter-in-law Shelly Riddle of Seminole, OK, her grandchildren Mark Schroeder and Annie, Matthew Schroeder and Vicky, Mary Campsey and Travis and Brittany Fleeman and Scott, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anna Mae was a very gentle and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed, but we can take comfort in the knowledge that she is now enjoying eternal life with her Lord.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Prague Cemetery, 1409 US 62, Prague, Oklahoma 74864. A visitation will be held Saturday and Sunday before the graveside at Parks Funeral Home, 1405 West Main , Prague, Oklahoma 74684.
