Stanley Louis Leishner, (84), died Sunday, May 12, 2024 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Monday, May 20, 2024 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel in Wichita Falls. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Stan was born December 14, 1939 in Wichita Falls to Frank and Julia (Geis) Leishner. He attended the Academy of Mary Immaculate in Wichita Falls and graduated from Electra High School and Midwestern State University. He married Jane Carlson on August 3, 1963.
Stan was a career Army officer, retiring in 1984 as a lieutenant colonel after 20 years of service. His career assignments took him to Germany, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and the United States. Following his retirement from the Army, he served as teacher and football coach at Notre Dame High School in Wichita Falls. Following that he was foreman of Guide Mound Ranch in Wichita County for ten years. Col. Leishner's career service awards included the Legion of Merit w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, w/ oak & Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd cluster), and Purple Heart. Other awards were the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (6), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal. He was also awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the MSU Alumni Association, and the M Club.
Survivors include his son Glenn and wife Kim of Houston, daughter Katherine of Wichita Falls, son Mark of Richardson, and grandchildren Sarah, Thomas and Matthew Leishner of Austin. Preceded in death by his Wife Jane. He finally straightened out.
