It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Dan Kerr, who passed away in Kamloops, British Columbia, on August 30, 2026, at the age of 60.
Born on October 6, 1965, in Burnaby, British Columbia, Dan lived a life defined by hard work, determination, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. From a young age, he believed in working hard and taking care of those around him, values he carried throughout his life.
Dan was a devoted husband to Julie Kerr, a proud father to Ty and Cody, and a loving grandfather to Auvi, Cade, and Anders. Family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow.
One of Dan's greatest accomplishments was building Stampede Glass from the ground up alongside Julie. Through dedication, perseverance, and countless hours of hard work, they built a successful business and earned the respect of customers, colleagues, and friends alike. Dan believed in honesty, commitment, and treating people fairly.
Dan was always willing to help. Whether someone needed advice, a hand with a project, or simply someone to talk to, he never hesitated to give his time, knowledge, and support. His generosity touched countless lives.
Outside of work, Dan found joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, boating with family, and tackling renovation projects, often teaching others how to do things right the first time. He enjoyed following hockey and baseball, spending time with family and friends as well as watching the news.
The ocean held a special place in Dan's heart. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the water or along the coast with the people he loved. Those memories will be cherished forever.
Dan was also known for the lifelong friendships he maintained. He remained close with friends he had known since he was 13 years old, a testament to his loyalty and the genuine connections he built throughout his life. To know Dan was to have a friend for life.
Dan will be remembered as a kind, hardworking, helpful, and talkative man who never met a stranger. His family and friends will remember his sense of humour, his strength, and the way he made people feel welcome and valued.
Dan is lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie; his sons, Ty (Reyna) and Cody (Laura); his grandchildren, Auvi, Cade, and Anders; his father, Edison Kerr; his brothers, Daryl (Sandra) Kerr and Terry Kerr; and Montana Howard, whom he considered a daughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Coast Hotel in Kamloops, British Columbia. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived. Fittingly, the celebration will take place on what would have been Dan's 61st birthday, giving those who knew and loved him the opportunity to honour a life filled with friendship, hard work, generosity, and love.
Though Dan is no longer with us, the lessons he taught, the kindness he shared, and the love he gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, Dan would have preferred that you eat a chicken wing, raise a glass with friends, or support your local ice cream shop. Take a moment to enjoy life's simple pleasures and think of him.
