Frances Gwendolyne Waning

Fran Waning passed away surrounded by her family on July 23, 2026 at The Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home. Born on May 21, 1946, in Kimberly B.C to Gwendolyne and William Forsyth. Fran aka Granny Franny & Gigi never hid from a storm and instead learned how to dance in the rain.

Fran is survived by spouse Martin Soles; children Louise Pshyk (Wes), Shirley MacLean (Gary), Karen Soles, Trevor Soles; Grandchildren Josh, Nick, Krista, Sarah, Melissa, Donnie, Clayton, Rita, John, and Yzzy; Great Grandchildren Sanna, Lauren, Caelan, Walker, Peggy, Phoenix, Lachlan, Scotty, and Sophie.

Fran was predeceased by parents Gwen and William Forsyth, Brother Allan Forsyth, and second husband Casey Waning.

Fran will always be remembered by the people who loved her and people that we have never even heard of. Gigi has a legacy in working in human service and touched the lives of many. Granny Franny was feisty with a heart of gold and was fearsome in her endeavor to improve other people’s lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 2pm-4pm at Schoening Funeral Service (513 Seymour Street, Kamloops)
