Joe Gilbert Evans

Joe Gilbert Evans, 77, of Houston, Texas passed into eternal rest on July 16, 2013. Born December 6, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to Joe and Marie Evans; Gilbert, as he was known, served in the United States Army from

1955-1958. For many years Gilbert owned and operated Evans' Ice House and Evans' Kitchen on Mission Rd. in San Antonio. Upon his retirement Gilbert moved with his family to Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John Evans. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Rosales Evans. Sons: Nicolas Evans; Joe Evans and wife LeAnna Evans and their daughter Hazel. Daughters: Patricia Tschirhart and husband Kerry Tschirhart and their children Jerome and Olivia; Lisa Jackson and her children, David Jon, Danny, and Harmony; Stephanie Rodriquez and husband Oscar Rodriquez and their children, Nicolette Lucero and husband Frank Lucero, Danielle Chavez, Gabrielle Chavez, Eric Hernandez and Alicia Rodriquez. Great-grandson: Mason Chavez. Brothers: Alfred Evans; Richard Evans and wife Dalia Evans along with numerous nephews and nieces.

Gilbert loved spending time in his beautiful back yard working or quietly sitting in a swing and enjoying the outdoors. A master on the grill, Gilbert took great pride in barbecuing for family and friends at every occasion. During son Nicolas' grammar school days, he was a dedicated volunteer at E.O. Lovett Elementary. More recently Gilbert took great joy in the time he was able to share with his great-niece, Jasey. Gilbert was loved by all he touched and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
