Leony Banta "Lala" Paguirigan

Leony Banta Paguirigan, Waipahu HI, age 67, passed away peacefully at her home on July 20, 2013. Leony is survived by her loving husband Emil Ulep Paguirigan; her sons, Joel Paguirigan and wife, Eben; Jason Paguirigan; Jeremy Paguirigan; her grandson Rizal Emilio Paguirigan (Rza). She is survived by her siblings Romando Banta (Kuya Romy) and wife Bernadita (Ate Nedy); Rosita Banta Rodriguez (Ate Cita); Ludivina Banta Caday (Ate Baby); in-laws, Esther Ramos (Manang Ester), Suzanna Ocol and husband Artemio; Frank Paguirigan; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandkids (and great) and friends all of whom she loved dearly.

Born to Leon De Leon Banta (Tatay Lolong) and Rosario Namuco (Nanay Charing), Leony was raised in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite - Philippines, along with eight brothers and sisters. She worked in a US base as a secretary where she met Emil, the love of her life, while he was serving in the US military; they married on Sept 18, 1971. His career took them to Yokosuka and Iwakuni, Japan to start raising their family until finally settling in Honolulu, HI.

A full-time mother and housewife, Leony put her family as first priority. She would take on an extra job in addition to her full-time duties at home to help raise their four children. Leony had a servants heart and welcomed family and friends to her home where she loved to "talk stories" and cook. Her kitchen served many dinners, feasts, celebrations and Pasalubong. She will be missed for now, but we will meet again in Heaven.

She joins in eternal peace with her father Leon De Leon Banta (Tatay Lolong); mother Rosario Namuco Banta (Nanay Charing); daughter Gina Banta Paguirigan; granddaughter Maleah V Paguirigan; siblings Rodelio Banta (Kuya Deyo), Rosalie Banta San Luis (Ate Lie), Rosauro Banta (Roy), Leonides Banta (Ding) along with a few in-laws, cousins, and friends.

Visitation: 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, 94-675 Farrington Highway. Services: 9:30 a.m. Burial: 11 a.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Casual attire.
