First born to Ormond and Pearl Savis of Newburgh, New York, he was followed by three brothers and a sister. He attended Newburgh Free Academy. After school he joined the Navy. From 1959 to 1962 he served on the USS Lake Champlain CVS 39. He was proud of his time in the service and the bonds he formed. His life mission was to help those who struggle with alcoholism. His greatest achievement was his sobriety. He was very instrumental in many success stories, including his own daughter, and he was vigilant in supporting whomever wanted help.
He was a man who loved being on the road - travelling quite a bit over the years, he loved his motorcycle and the feeling of freedom. He enjoyed word searches and watching WWE with his wife.
He remarried in 2015 to Ruthann Mead. He had dated her years prior and never forgot her. They lived and loved, moving eventually to Florida. Her family and his became woven together.
Ormond is survived by his loving wife, Ruthann Mead-Sarvis; children Pamela Popowick (Tom), Brian Sarvis, and Peter Sarvis; granddaughter Gabrielle Ludlow; grandson Jayden Ludlow, grandson Ryan and Eric Ferguson; and one brother, Robert Sarvis and many Nieces and Nephews. Ormond was preceded in death by siblings William Sarvis, James Sarvis, Carol Sarvis; and one daughter, Cheryl Sarvis Ferguson.
Ormond's final resting place will be shared via Facebook.
