On April 23, 2024, Manuela Patricia Rivera Rey peacefully crossed the threshold of eternity, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and resilience. She was born on March 17, 1954, in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico, the oldest of nine children born to Antonia Juarez and Manuel Rey Ramirez.
From a young age, Manuela faced life's challenges with courage and tenacity. She shared fond memories of her early childhood, recounting how she and her brother Ramon would steal apples from the neighbors for a treat, and how he protected her during those hard yet innocent times. Her childhood was marked by joy and dancing, as well as a deep appreciation for music.
Manuela's life changed when she met the love of her life, Jose De La Luz Rivera Casas. Their courtship was a cherished time filled with dreams and plans for the future. They were married on February 2, 1974, in Chihuahua, Mexico, and together, they built a life based on endurance and unwavering support for one another.
One of their greatest achievements was moving to the United States in 1994, where they worked hard to provide for their family. Manuela was known for her strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. She took pride in her job at Altec, where she received numerous employee of the month awards and cherished the jackets, bags, and watches she earned for her dedication.
Manuela was a loving mother to her three children, Jose A. Rivera Rey, Yeni Y. Rivera Rey, and Nayeli P. Rivera Rey, and a devoted grandmother to Dwayne, Evelyn, Frankie, Mikey, Emily, Sebastian, and Oliver. Her children remember her as an honest, hardworking woman with a dark sense of humor and an unwavering love for her family.
Her passion for animals led her to rescue many dogs and cats throughout her life, and she cherished her time spent at home with her beloved pets. Manuela found solace in her faith, believing in God and looking forward to reuniting with her parents in a better place.
Manuela's favorite song, "Long as I Can See the Light" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, will forever evoke her spirit and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her loved ones will remember her faith and farewell as the sun sets on her life.
As we say goodbye to Manuela, we honor her wishes: "Stop crying, let me sleep, and smile!" Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the children she loved, the grandchildren she adored, and the birds that still sing in her memory.
Until we meet again.
