He was the beloved son of Priscilla Mayo and Michael D. Moore, born in Washington, DC on December 28, 1990. Jerome endured a life with his share of challenges from being diagnosed with Autism, but he never allowed Autism to define his spirit. He thrived with determination, joy and a love for the things that made him happiest. He loved to dance, enjoyed good eating and spending time with his family; especially his grandfather Larry Mayo affectionately known as “Pop-Pop”.
Jerome attended Sunrise Academy in Washington. DC and graduated from Francis L. Cardozo High School in 2012. He competed proudly in the Special Olympics, several times. Through sports, he found friendship, confidence and a strong sense of accomplishment. His unique personality and enthusiasm inspired everybody who cheered him on. He was a devoted fan of the Baltimore Ravens. Watching football and cheering for his team brought him great excitement and he proudly wore his Ravens gear every chance he could.
Jerome believed in the Lord and in the year 2000, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Maryland, by Pastor John Jenkins. In recent years, Jerome experienced several life-threatening health scares that he miraculously survived through. He fought hard for a long time, but he is now resting peacefully with the Lord. Jerome will be remembered for his perseverance. His life should remind us that strength is not measured by the challenges we face, but by the courage we show when we face them. Jerome’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Jerome is survived by his mother Priscilla Mayo; his father Michael Moore; 8 half-siblings Ja’Maya Mayo, Alexis Wilson, Andre Davis, DiQuan & Kadaira Lucas, Cortiasha, Mehki & TiarQuinn Moore; his devoted grandmother Mattie Mayo; Uncle Lawrence Mayo Jr; Aunt Victoria Mayo; great-Uncle Jake (Shirley) Fullen; great-Aunt Joyce (Warren) Lindsey; great-Aunt Brooklyn Fullen (wife of his late great-Uncle Tommy Fullen); Godmother Toni Moore; his mother’s best friend/sister Cotina Lane Pixley; and many cousins, loving family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
