1948 - 2024
Liz Woo, a nurturing and selfless wife and mother, passed away with family at her side.
Liz is survived by her husband, Ray; son, Bryan; and, daughter, Stephanie. She is also survived by her older sister, Marisa, and niece, Corina, of Australia.
Liz was born to Choy Chan and Tim Hoi. Her family moved to Sydney in 1963 and, soon, immigrated to Canada in 1964. She began her professional career as a Legal Secretary, later working at the Royal Bank and retiring from Save-On-Foods. In 1971, she married Ray, a high school teacher. A few years later, she welcomed her son, Bryan, and daughter, Stephanie.
Liz was a music enthusiast, avid chef, and ardent baker. Her music appreciation spanned from oldies to contemporary and classical to musical. Many evenings were spent rocking out to the family’s jukeboxes. Liz’s culinary specialties included stews and loaves, though would try anything Canadian Living recommended. She enjoyed shopping and collected spoons and tea towels from around the world. Liz was a dedicated volunteer, giving countless hours to her children’s elementary school, high school music department, and youth bowling. While known around her neighbourhood of almost 45 years as giving, kind, and generous-of-heart, she will always be known as the petite woman who drove her kids to school in a black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
Liz will be missed deeply by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
