Donna Maxine Smith

Donna was born on July 22, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Elzia and Arline Peavey. She graduated from Cosmetology school where she then worked as a master cosmetologist for 54 years at her own salon, Donna’s Beauty Salon. An Army wife, she traveled wherever her husband went, including Germany. Donna was a faithful member of Gentian Baptist Church for over 60 Years. She loved reading, especially her bible and Sunday school lessons. Donna was a very talented artist, she enjoyed sketching and painting, tending to her flower gardens, and being creative with her client’s haircuts, styles and colors. Donna loved helping others to become the best versions of themselves, and loved her family more than anything.

Donna is preceded in death by her Parents: Elzia and Arlene Peavey, Husband: Edward M. Smith Sr. SFC (Ret), Brother: Kenny Peavey, Sister and Best Friend: Wilma Eldridge, Son’s: Edward M. Smith III, Baby Edward M Smith II, Grandson: Christopher Scott Davis, Great Grandson: Warren Smith, Son in Law – Howard Schnieder.

With a large family that is full of love, she is survived by her daughter- Katharine Schnieder, Sons – Tommy M. Smith (Brenda), Clifton W. Smith (Jeannie), Grandchildren:, Tim Davis (Deana), Brandi Thomason (Jack), Ryan Smith (Cristina), Lance Smith (Jenny), Lisa Smith, Edward Ball (Amanda), Bryan Ball, Janie Gomm (Jason), Shannon Fowler (Terri), Tiffany Ball, along with 25 Great Grandchildren, 9 Great-Great Grandchildren, Special Friends: Debbie Hutto and Cindy Luse, her sister in law, Betty Haynes and her children, Debbie Haynes (Doug) and Phillip Haynes (Becky)and Several Nieces and Nephews, .

A funeral service for Donna will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Gentian Baptist Church, 3853 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907, with a visitation for friends and family starting at 10:00 AM. A graveside service for Donna will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 AL-165, Fort Mitchell, AL 36856.
