Walter Allison Ruggles, age 90 of Bear River, passed away at Villa d’la Baie, Meteghan on April 28, 2024. Born in Bear River East, he was the son of the late Gordon and Laura Ruggles. Walter started his career working at the Bear River Trading Company, then to CFB Cornwallis where he worked in supply stores. He joined the fire hall from which he retired after 35 years. On days off you could find him at Keith Frasers Building Supplies doing woodworking. After retirement, he opened a woodworking shop at his home, making windows, doors, furniture and many repairs. Everyone was welcome to enter his shop and many gathered to talk and swap stories. Walter seemed to know everyone and until his passing, he could always go back in years and tell funny stories. He was a member of the Bear River Baptist Church and he also had belonged to the Bear River Fire Hall.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Angela (John) Wright of Virginia East; grandchildren, Scott (Leslee) Wright and Nicole (Neil) Cress, both of Clementsvale; great grandchildren, Kyle (Paige) Cress, Brianna (Kent) Cress, Mia (Justin) Wright-Watchel and Spencer (Kerry Lynn) Wright; great-great grandchildren, Audrey and Forrest Cress.
