Our precious angel Dejanaye Nevaye James was born at Parkview Hospital Randallia on March 1, 2007, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Diane (nee. Walls) and Earnold Rufus James. As an infant, she was so precious growing up in her home with her parents and siblings who loved her immensely.
In her teenage years Dejanaye loved going to church, being around her family, best friend and companion. Dejanaye would light up the room with her little voice, laughter and stories she would tell. Everyone loved being around her.
On June 24, 2025, at 18 years of age, Dejanaye passed from this life at Parkview Regional Medical Center under Hospice care. She fought a long battle with cancer; she was surrounded by family, friends and Parkview staff.
Dejanaye attended Red Key Middle School in Portland, Indiana and graduated from North Side High School in Fort Wayne. Her desire was to attend college for culinary arts and early childcare, but unfortunately, God had other plans for her. Dejanaye professed a belief in Christ at an early age and found her peace and comfort at her chosen church home Wallen Church in Fort Wayne.
Dejanaye was preceded in death by her grandparents, Trivily Walls, Charles McKay, David and Iva James, Earleen James; an aunt, Donita James; her older cousins, Kieta Lamb, Keysha James and Tituse James.
She leaves to cherish precious memories to her loving and devoted parents, Earnold and Diane James of Fort Wayne; Marquon Woods, Eric Towers II, of Jackson MI; Antonio Walls of Fort Wayne; a sister, Jacury Roper of Fort Wayne and her twin sisters, Breanna Sanford and Audreyanna Sanford of Jackson, MI; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from all around the world. Dejanaye also leaves to cherish, her godparents, Kim and Dana Plattner; her companion, Noah Vasquez and her best friend Jiliana Harry, all of Fort Wayne.
Dejanaye was loved by family and friends. We are certain that God loves her more. We take comfort in knowing that “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8
A Celebration of her life will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park 1140 Lake Avenue (46805) with visitation one hour prior to services. She will be laid to rest in Concordia Gardens Cemetery following services.
Fond memories of Dejanaye may be shared at www.mccombandsons.com for the James family.
