WASHINGTON – Rita Aileen Bogner, 95, of Washington, formerly of Creve Coeur, passed away at 4:12 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Supportive Living of Washington. Rita went by her middle name of Aileen for many years and is known to most folks as Aileen Bogner.
Aileen was born on March 3, 1929 in Lacon to William J. and Elizabeth C. (Linderer) Maubach. She married Edmund “Eddie” L. Bogner in Lacon on June 24, 1950. He died July 22, 1994 in Creve Coeur. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joyce Ann Bogner; and sister, Leona Mae Osborne along with many other friends, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Surviving are her son, Alan E. Bogner of Portland, Oregon; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Family and friends were very important to her and she was joyfully able to visit with many of these folks during her last few weeks alive, especially her community at Supportive Living of Washington. Aileen was recently able to enjoy her 95th birthday party with friends and family.
Aileen worked as the cook at Sacre Coeur Catholic School for nearly 40 years and then was housekeeper and cook for the parish rectory for an additional 15 years after retiring from the school kitchen. She was an active member of the parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. Aileen was craft chairman and known for many craft items, but mostly her rugs that she and her group made.
Aileen enjoyed playing cards, sewing, and crochet. Aileen also enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved ones.
Her memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lacon. Father James Pankiewicz will officiate. A private inurnment will take place at a later time in the church cemetery. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
