Richard Eugene Behrends

Richard Eugene Behrends, 56, of Garfield, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025.

He was born on September 24, 1968, in Meridian, Mississippi to Ernetta (Knox) Behrends and the late Jim Behrends.

Richard was known as a “Goofball”, but also as a generous man who would do anything to help anyone. He loved to tinker with computers and electronics. Taking things apart to see how they worked and SOMETIMES putting them back together. He was a collector of coins, watches, high end writing instruments and pocketknives'.

On October 23, 2004, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Brown. Together they have spent the past 20 years traveling the country and the world. Going to horse races and hiking together. Richard was a lay leader at Brightwater United Methodist Church, where he & Cheryl were very active.

Richard was preceded in death by his father and 3 uncles.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Behrends; children Larissa Arnold (Chris) and Shannon Palmore (Clifford); mother Ernie Behrends; sister Sheila Morgan (Donald); grandchildren Ireland Arnold, David Gandy, Kaia Gandy, and Shaylea Gandy; nephews Trevor Morgan (Skyler), Tanner Morgan (Metaya) and Tyler Morgan (Celsey).

Honorary pallbearers are Trevor Morgan, Tanner Morgan, Tyler Morgan, Jeff Tucker, Jeff Arnold, Scott Clifton, and Steve Marchant.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm Saturday, July 19, 2025, with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 pm with Pastors Jerome & Vickie Grotts officiating.
